This To That // Green Pom Pom Sleeved Shirt

Being home all the time now gives me the chance to work on all the projects I’ve been wanting to work on. Besides, for years it’s been a goal of mine to stop buying new clothes and mostly buy used, or make my own.

This was a shirt I bought at a sample sale two years ago. I never felt confident with the fit. I love oversized, but this wasn’t doing it for me. I juggled with some ideas on how to make it better, or at least more me. In the end, it’s always gonna be cropped with pom poms.

I started off by cutting the bottom, a pretty hefty amount. I added some f that material as wristbands to mimic sweatshirts. With the bottom cropped and hemmed, and the sleeves edited, I focused all my attention on the trims down the sides of the long sleeves.

I love this black and white pom pom trim, combo’d with the pink spandex strips that I ruffled next to the pom poms.

I decided to hand sew that because I’m not a pro at maneuvering sleeve decor in my sewing machine unless I take the sleeve off completely. After the trims were sewed on, I studded down the sleeve and around the wrist with multiple textured gold studs I collected. The wrap around the sleeve was a last minute decision; I though it was a nice addition.

Since this shirt was originally oversized, the width was way too big even cropped. I took a chance by cutting another strip of the elect over fabric to create a waistband. I didn’t photograph me wearing this extra addition because at this point, I was still bouncing the idea. But it definitely was a good addition. It created a more comfortable fit.

This is what I love about refreshing my own clothes. I get to do whatever I want. Add waistbands, pom poms, and studs. This shirt makes me feel so much more confident than before!
