One, I apologize for the dirty mirror. I actually Photoshopped a lot of the dirty marks out. Shhh, don’t tell anyone…
Two, can we discuss how there is no good angle to take a mirror picture? A selfie is not my intention, but you can’t avoid it when you’re trying to show a mirror redo.
Anywho, I had bought this mirror from Walmart a bunch of months ago. I looked at this mirror for all these months and I didn’t even think twice about the look and color of it.
A week ago, I concluded how much I love pink and red as a color combination and really wanted something in my bedroom to be pink and red. I looked around my room and fixated on my mirror. An idea popped up in my head and I went for it.
I picked out my pink acrylic and painted a base of pink. It took a whole lot of coats, but I eventually got the base to be opaque.
(Side note: I love my Ikea rug so much. It makes for a fun backdrop.)
After the pink was dried, I used red paint and painted squiggles all over. Unlike the pink paint, this was an easy job, didn’t take long to paint at all, and it only needed one coat.
I let that dry overnight. The next day I took my new favorite Mod Podge hardcoat and went over all of the painted areas.
Once it was dry, I hung it up and it’s been looking good ever since. Seriously, pink and red looks real good together.
