Movies That May Predict The Trump Presidency

So, the unthinkable has happened and we’re all shocked. Shocked and kinda terrified. It’s still sinking in, honestly. Just thinking about how the positive changes we made as a country will now be undone, and according to the way our country voted, clearly people like the idea of going backwards instead of forward.

As it’s been discussed in the media – when was America ever really all that great? I’d like to think within the last eight years it’s been only getting better, but now we reached a grinding halt and people are okay with reverting back to the way it was: when women couldn’t vote, slaves were in existence – basically when the white men ruled this country is when it was great. That’s what Americans voted for. People want that back.

Well America, guess what? So much has changed for us to go back to that world. People are not afraid to voice their opinions and no way will the minority sit quiet and take this. We’re going to see a revolution. There’s no way we won’t. The extent of this revolution? I guess we’ll find out, but there’s no way that the next four years will be a quiet period where “miracles” will happen to make this country “great again”.
There’s going to be protests, riots, movements, you name it. It will happen.

The entertainment industry has made plenty of movies featuring the future of the world, alternate realities, parallel universes, etc. Most of the time, the world made it out okay. Let’s hope we do too.

So I put together a list of movies that may possibly predict what the Trump presidency may be like. Because lists can sometimes get the point across. And I’m not gonna hold back.

01. Super Mario Bros. [1993]
The world splitting with a parallel dimension featuring a dictator who refers to himself as King with his people either turning to human/dino morphs or devolving to fungus – could this be foreshadowing? It’s just uncanny how much Trump resembles King Koopa in this film, and his personality is not that far off. Maybe if things get rough, we can turn him to fungus or something.

Some Witchy Movies

I know Halloween is now over, but we all still have a little bit of that spooky spirit leftover, right? Or is it just me? Holidays come and go so quick, but the spirit tends to linger for a few days after they’re gone. It’s a little hard to get over Halloween so quickly.

Well, while there’s still some of that spirit left, I put together another list of my top witch movies to share with y’all that are entertaining and not that scary. That is if you’re still into the spirit.

01. Practical Magic [1998]
A light hearted love tale featuring amazing top names we all know and love. There’s no element of scary in this, but it’s all about casting spells and learning to deal with the family curse when it comes to love. It’s a deep love story. Love and witches. Seems to be a typical witch movie.

02. Hocus Pocus [1993]
The top classic witch movie we all know and love, Hocus Pocus features a plot, fashion, set, and overall mood that will never be dated. Something about this movie is so fascinating that it has stuck with viewers since the day it came out, and it’s having a renaissance in the more recent years. This is the classic Halloween movie when people think of witches. Bam.

Pop Words // Banana

I like making lists, I think that’s pretty apparent by now. I especially love making themed ones, and my top favorite theme is pop culture. Here is an example.
I gathered references pop culture mainstream moments of when the word banana came into play.

01. An obvious use of banana was from my all time favorite person, Gwen Stefani. She brought our attention to bananas though the drum line song we all know and can’t get enough of. But I figured it was too obvious to add this song into the list, so here’s a video where Gwen schools Stephen Colbert about bananas.

My Evolution Of Natural Skin Care

When you hit puberty, all hell breaks loose. Your hormones act up and it’s projected onto your skin. It happens to all of us at some point. Our pH levels rebel causing oily and dry skin, and as soon as we break out, we run to the dermatologist.
They’re quick to prescribe all these topical creams and our skin just becomes a desert wasteland. Does any of this sound familiar?

This is the challenge of growing up: finding ways to balance healthy habits while trying not to compromise your bodily chemistry…because if you do mess with that chemistry, your body has no problem showing you the consequences.

I got frustrated with the trips to the dermatologist and the stupid creams that didn’t work. I got to the point where I Googled other options and I constantly came across natural remedies that worked. Well, in the beginning there was a learning curve, but these days I constantly get complimented on my skin and I’d like to think all those years of trying natural items instead of unnatural chemicals did some good.

Fun Zombie Flicks

We’re a little more than halfway into October, and I’ve been full on craving horror movies. Ash VS Evil Dead is back on, as well as American Horror Story, although I haven’t tuned into this season yet. I’m working on it though.

To prevent nightmares from happening, I tend to watch a lot more comedy-horror movies because they allow me to get through the day and sleep at night without missing out on horror aspects.

I put together a small list of some zombie movies that are enjoyable and memorable. Especially ones that I approve because I am able to sleep after watching these without any nightmares happening.

Style Transformation

So as a “Flashback Friday”, here’s a post I’ve been compiling pictures for…for at least a few months now. This is the most you’ll ever see my face in a post, that’s for sure.

I’ve been thinking lately as to how much my style has changed and how it matched my personality and the feelings I felt at the time. To me, I can see the change over the years but I also feel as if I’ve been pretty consistent. I’ve been wearing the same clothes for a long time since I’ve managed to fit into everything as I basically stopped growing at age 12, aaaand I’m also a hoarder. I never really followed trends, but I was inspired by them over the years encouraging me to make it my own, as I live the DIY lifestyle.

The one thing that changed dramatically was my hair. I can look at pictures and know what year it was. Is that excessive?
Can I show you?

Stranger Kids

Stranger Things

Have you jumped aboard the Stranger Things train? If not, get with the times! Join the rest of the world! Be a part of the conversation!

Honestly, if you haven’t seen it, no hate. I was reluctant to watch it myself being that the rest of the world was obsessed with it. I didn’t know if I cared to be in that conversation. To me it was another “American Idol” or “Breaking Bad”. Two completely different shows, I just realized, but they’re examples of shows that the world shut off all their electronics to watch. Or maybe not, as live-Tweeting is a thing.

But I gave in, and I fully understand why people are obsessed.

Basic Bitch Karaoke Songs

How can I make this post not sound offensive?
Well, let’s see. You know when you go to a bar, or karaoke, or someplace where alcohol may or may not be involved and there’s that group of obnoxious drunk girls singing along with the top 40 hits of today and whatever top 40 hits that may have existed in the 90s or 80s or 70s, and they all take group pictures lined up next to each other with their bodies twisted and hands on their hips and there’s nothing to differentiate them because they all have long hair, faux tan skin, duck faces and tight skirts? (Hello, run-on sentence.) I can totally get more descriptive if you don’t know what I’m talking about, but I wouldn’t believe you if you told me you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, I’ve witnessed that more times than I’d like to remember – in person and browsing through social media. Obnoxious drunk girls singing along to all the typical white girl songs gets kinda old, BUT it’s entertaining composing a list like this to poke fun. Is that mean? Well, whatever.

80’s Fashion In Films

Over a year ago, I wrote up a post about my top three favorites featuring 90’s fashion in movies. Can’t believe it’s taken me over a year to write a follow up, but I did it.

If you asked me what my favorite era is for fashion and style, hands down, 90’s is number one. If you asked my second, hands down, 80’s for sure. I love the bright colors, tacky nature, and Memphis design. The music is memorable, the movies are classics, and it’s an era that we keep revisiting to gather inspiration. It was such a ‘one of a kind’ period and it’s full of a plethora of amazing things.
I put together a list of my top favorite 80’s stylings in movies that I appreciate a ton.

Cyndi Lauper in Vibes [1988]

Cyndi Lauper Vibes
Yes, a movies featuring both Cyndi and Jeff Goldblum exists, and it’s not exactly a very well known movie. As you probably expect, yes it’s a cheesy flick, but it’s fun. It involves psychics and lost temples. As you’d expect, Cyndi’s style also makes its way into the movie. It’s a little toned town compared to her known eccentric look, but her outfits are still super fun and very Cyndi.
The film itself didn’t get very high reviews, and while watching, you can probably see why. But Vibes is an entertaining watch and Cyndi is just precious. Her quirky personality stands out just as much as her wardrobe, and it’s hard to take your eyes off her. It’s honestly a real pleasant watch, especially when Cyndi is on the screen.

Why I Create

I’ll be honest. In general, I’m all around very self conscious. As much as I try to be confident about my appearance and attitude, criticism and judgements affects me more than I’d like to admit. I’m sure a lot of people can relate.

Recently, I’ve come to realize that the crowd I’ve been surrounding myself with has a much different taste than me. I feel like I’m losing connection with people who believe in hobbies, and those who don’t criticize others for having said hobbies. Or I guess, this is “growing up”? ♫ ♪
