Pop Words // Nasty

Since the third presidential debate where Trump shared his infamous wisdom about bad hombres and Hillary being a nasty woman, the internet exploded with all things supporting nasty women. It for sure sparked a feminism movement. I’m personally kinda secretly thankful Donald Trump ran for president because it brought to light a lot of issues we have in our country and a good chunk of the country recognizes how much work we have to do to fix these misogynist, racist, and homophobic problems.

01. But back to nasty women, immediately after the debate women everywhere got to work making shirts, pins, patches, and art expressing how much of nasty women they are. Because, you know, nasty women get things done. It’s a true statement.

02. After the nasty woman comment heard around the world, this Janet Jackson song became a thing. It was one of the top watched videos after the debate which gave this song new life in 2016. It goes to show Trump has been actually helpful all along. Any press is good press, right?
That choreography tho.

03. Off the topic of nasty women, Oingo Boingo sang a song about nasty habits which is such a good song to get up and dance to. No words describe how much I appreciate this band. And to connect it back to Trump, did you see the video where Danny elfman composed music to a video of Trump lurking behind Hillary? This is another reason why Danny Elfman is the best.

04. Who would have thought Weird Al would have made a political statement of his own? We’re used to hearing and seeing him mock the top music hits, but seeing him jump on board the Trump-criticism-train is pretty fantastic and I didn’t think it would be. But I’m down with it, and it’s kinda hilarious. It’s nice to see Weird Al still around and still at the parody game.

05. For a song called Nasty with nasty lyrics, this is super tamed for Brooke Candy. At least I think so. But being Brooke, she can do whatever she wants and be nasty or not be nasty.

06. Word’s out that Nasty Gal filed for bankruptcy. They tried to keep it under wraps by not talking about it out loud. But it happened, and reading the behind the scenes is always interesting. Unprofessional management and negativity always lead to company downfalls and here’s a sad case of that scenario.

So there you go. I’ll admit it: thank you Trump for talking about nasty women. Nasty women unite!
