Note: this was written up yesterday but couldn’t find a chance to do my final edits before posting, so therefore it’ll be an “Entertain Me Tuesday” post.
My first festival experience for sure was interesting, but I would say it wasn’t anything more than average. Crowded, hot, but exciting to share the experience with so many other people that are there for the same reason you are.
I’m not exactly the biggest fan of jazz, but I definitely have grown an appreciation for it since day one of this trip to N’awlins. There were so many tents and stages to dedicated to jazz, blues, and all sorts of related genres, and I enjoyed seeing it all.
I attended two days – Friday and Saturday of the second week. Our main plans were to see No Doubt and Elton John, but all the acts in between were just as great.
As amazing as No Doubt and Elton John were (there’s nothing to say about their performances because they were just so perfect, I kinda expected walking away with a smile on my face), seeing Macy Gray was an experience. She’s a bundle of crazy and fantastic. She definitely left a lasting impression. Paloma Faith also put on an amazingly sassy performance. This year’s lineup was just perf; Jazzfest did good. 👍
(I unfortunately was not able to take any good shots of the live acts because I wasn’t close enough to any of the stages to take a decent picture. Boooo. )
Aside from the music aspect, holy moly, the food was great. I’m not a seafood fan so I steered clear from all crawfish and anything related (my friends ate all the crawfish dishes for me and they loved every second of it). There was so much variety to choose from and we ate so much of it.
After this, I probably wouldn’t say no to attending festivals in the future. Especially Jazzfest. I’ll be keeping an eye on next year’s lineup because I’m guessing it’ll be just as awesome. I’ll take any excuse to come back to New Orleans.
