Before the company I work for enforced a textile recycle program, I used to grab fabric from the trash bags other designers threw out. Literally, so. much. fabric.
I came across a small bag of fuzzy material that was being trashed and I couldn’t just leave it behind. I took it and ran.
As for the dresser, I had this wooden dresser since as long as I could remember. Knobs were falling off, the drawers got all scratched up – it was a bit of a mess and I wanted to fix it real bad. I thought to glue on the fuzzy material and buy new knobs and BAM – a fresh and fun dresser.
After emptying my drawers and taking off the knobs, I collected the fuzzy pieces I liked and cut them into pieces I saw fit onto the drawers. I decided to use PVA glue since I trust PVA the most. After the glue dried, I cut any excess fabric that was hanging off the wood.
Once everything was officially all dried, I used my staple gun to staple the fabric to the drawers. I didn’t staple all that much – just the corners, a few along the top, bottom, and sides. I like the extra security.
I bought a variety of knobs from Home Depot. I mostly couldn’t decide on one knob design, so I bought a bunch of different types with no repeats.
I screwed in all the knobs, filled my drawers back up, and I called it a day!
I can’t stop going up to my dresser and petting it every time I pass it. I should name it, huh.
