It was my friend Gabby’s birthday early in November. I don’t know what exactly sparked me to partake in getting into the mode of making her birthday present pretty.
Well, I kinda do know. I took a trip to a stationery store in Montclair, New Jersey called Parcel and it got me hyped. Their embellishment packs, stamps, vintage paper, and all the variety of goods really made me feel like I needed to step up my gift wrapping game. This was my first attempt at it and it makes me all ready to go wild and crazy for wrapping Christmas presents.
I bought her a card game The Movie Misquote Game, which sounded like it was a different version of Cards Against Humanity. I wrapped that in Kraft paper and decorated it in floral washi tape. I bought her card from a local stationery store Lockwood, and wrote all over it, stuck stickers all over it, and put washi tape all over it. Decoration!
Just giving the card game didn’t seem enough, and having a little bag of goodies is always fun. You know – postcards, pins, keychains, etc. I bought a pack of glassine baggies because I knew I’d use them for future gifts as well (like for Christmas!). Size 5.5″ x 7.75″ was perfect for the postcards, FYI.
I neatly packed everything in there and closed it with a gold heart shaped sticker.
So with the actual gift, the goodie bag, and then the card, there needed to be a little topper. I made a small bag of confetti (construction paper hole punchings), a little scallop edged tag, and a tiny clothespin that I painted with nail polish. I used the clothespin to clip the baggie and tag together.
The whole gift was then wrapped with white/yellow baker’s twine to put the finishing touches together. Wham bam.
It feels like an easy task, but I actually really did put a lot of work into it. Mostly because I didn’t have all the baggies and papers and whatnot, so it felt like it took forever. Now that I stocked up on these baggies and whatnot, I feel confident that putting together Christmas gifts will be easy and fun! I’m psyched!
